The City of Camden, Arkansas, is accepting applications for the position of Automotive Mechanic II in the Central Garage Division of the Public Works Department.
The Automotive Mechanic II is under the direction of the Equipment Superintendent and is responsible for skilled mechanical work of average difficulty requiring a high degree of technical ability as related to motor or major assembly rebuilding in repairing and maintaining gasoline and diesel powered engines and related equipment assigned to various City departments. Employee is expected to exercise independent judgment as to the method of repair after receiving written or oral instructions concerning the operation and operating condition of a piece of equipment.
Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent and must have completed vocational training in vehicular mechanical repair; electrical arc and oxyacetylene welding and have one year of paid full-time employment in servicing, maintaining and repairing automotive equipment or one year of experience at the Automotive Mechanic I level or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Employee shall acquire a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of date of employment.
Pay range is $10.96- $11.39 per hour, 40 hours per week, plus a full fringe benefit package is included. Health and life insurance for the employee and majority of family coverage is paid in full by the City of Camden.
